Reserve price
The reserve price is the confidential minimum the consignor has agreed to accept for a lot. It is usually set at or below the low estimate. If bidding does not reach the reserve, the lot remains unsold, which is often described as “bought in”. A lot offered without a reserve sells to the highest bidder regardless of price.
